Astomi
You gain +1 Spell Resistance for each Tier you have.
You learn one spell from the Psychic Spell list. Once per day when casting this spell, you choose to reduce its Stamina or Stress cost by 1.
You can communicate with other creatures within 60 feet of you with your mind. When you do, every creature up to 60 feet of you can hear you just like any other creature that is speaking would be heard. You can also choose to speak with only a single individual. If you spend 2 Stamina, you can telepathically send abstract thoughts, feelings, or images. You can spend 3 Stamina to read a willing target's mind and pick up on their thoughts or feelings.
Description
The Astomi are a mysterious people, thought of to be the closest lineage on Ooboro to that of the fabled and now extinct Humans. They resemble their human brothers and sisters in all regards, except they seem to have no mouth, or vocal chords. It is rumored throughout Ooboro that the Astomi were punished by the Gods for their alleged role in The Collapse and had their ability to speak taken away, in an attempt to render them unable to cast magic anymore. However, the Astomi know this not to be true, as they existed alongside Humans long before The Collapse. Many millennia ago, a sect of Humans left the City of Something on Nearside. They disagreed with the views of the Order of the Magi, believing that the order abused their magical abilities. They seeked enlightenment through expanding their minds. The first of the Astomi used magic to remove their mouths, so that they could never again use magic, in defiance of their Human brothers and sisters. The spells used were so powerful, that even their offspring were born in the image of their parents. Over time, they developed strong telepathic abilities to communicate with their minds. During The Revival, as magic returned to the world, the most enlightened found themselves able to control a new form of magic, one that did not require The Speaking. They mastered it quickly, and rumors of a powerful new form of magic began to spread in certain circles. Those who desired enlightenment would seek out the Astomi to learn this kind of magic. While many have learned their secrets, none have learned to control it in the way of the Astomi Masters. By finding balance within themselves and with nature, they discovered they could obtain sustenance from strong smells, like flowers, fresh rain fall, or for some Astomi, fear. Their quiet nature often makes others uncomfortable or nervous.
Appearance
Astomi were often mistaken for the lost lineage of Humans because their appearance was so similar. They have varying skin tones, hair and eye colors, and have a wide range of heights and weights. They very often will wear some sort of covering over their faces to hide their lack of a mouth to blend easier in society.
